Notas sobre a toponimia menor do concello de Sobrado na época medieval: vereas e casais no camiño a Compostela
Some of the people on their way to Compostela in medieval times, crossing the county of Présara, had to cross the territory that today makes up the municipality of Sobrado, famous for its monastery. The aim of this contribution is to reflect certain place names that appear in the medieval documents drawn up by the notaries of the monastery, since, perhaps, certain places that give their names to these place names were travelled by those women and men on their route to the west. Several are still easily recognisable today (Colimbrianos → Cumbraos, Ruadi → Roade, villa Maure → Vilamor etc.), but others, on the contrary, are characterised by a correspondence that is more complicated to verify or locate (villa Marzani, villa Teodani etc.).

Xosé Manuel Sánchez Rei (A Coruña, 1973) is a lecturer in the Department of Galician and Portuguese Philology at the University of A Coruña. His main lines of research are the grammar of contemporary Galician, literary language and linguistic variation, but he has also devoted part of his academic research to the study of onomastics, in particular toponymy.
