Erromesbidea,
el Camino en la toponima vasca.

This work studies the trace of the Way in the toponymy of the Euskal Herria. On the one hand, the toponyms that make direct reference to it, such as Erromesbidea and Erromeskamioa (literally ‘the pilgrims’ way’). The former in Alava, corresponding to the N-1, and the latter in Navarre, on the French Way. On the other hand, there are other place names that may be related, such as Arropizdea ‘the way of foreigners’. Finally, the trace of the saint Jaun Done Jakue (Lord Santiago) in the current toponymy, and the acculturation that made the vernacular name disappear for Santiago.
